Conservative first

Unchecked government expansion limits our freedom as individuals and hinders the growth of the businesses our state’s economy relies on to thrive. Kansans from all walks of life are impacted in very real ways and I am dedicated to standing up for people just like you. During my time in office, I have worked to limit bureaucratic intervention in our day-to-day lives and make government more efficient. I believe in the importance of defending life, strengthening the family, and protecting our most cherished rights. I will continue fighting for you in Topeka.

Campaigns take work. So does governing. Our state needs leadership that understands our communities and puts Kansas first. As Majority Leader, I worked to achieve many things for Kansans and voters showed their support for our efforts by sending another Republican supermajority back to the Kansas House. But the work goes on. As Speaker of the House, I need your help to share our current successes and future goals with our neighbors. Together, we can ensure that Kansas continues to be a great place to live, work, and raise a family!

"It's incredible to see how far we've come this session on tax relief and how working together in a bipartisan way with legislative Democrats produced a sustainable tax relief package that will benefit all Kansans," Hawkins said in a statement. "The overwhelming bipartisan support for this tax relief bill is a true testament to the efforts made to ensure its long-term financial stability."These are the very themes we've heard the governor repeat for almost six years now, so it would be strange for her to retreat from them. After all this hard work by legislators, both rural and urban, Republican and Democrat, we look forward to her signing the tax plan and joining us in providing bipartisan, sustainable tax relief to all Kansans."#kslegwww.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/will-laura-kelly-veto-the-bipartisan-kansas-tax-cut-plan-heres-he...

Reports of the ongoing struggles of the Kelly/Toland Administration's KDHE and their mismanagement of the state's Medicaid program sadly just keep coming. Even when given an entire extra year to complete this process, they still failed to meet the deadline. Expanding Medicaid would add a whole new population of able-bodied adults to an already struggling system. How does that make any sense?#ksleg sunflowerstatejournal.com/kancare-contracts-still-under-review-after-scheduled-award-date-passes/...

It was an honor to join the Child Welfare Summit yesterday in Topeka to share a little about what the legislature has been doing to help improve child welfare in Kansas. Child welfare/foster care is one of the most important issues we face. It was wonderful to see representatives from all 3 branches of government and over 700 attendees come together to work toward serving these children better. The House has a committee that's entirely focused on child welfare/foster care and some of their accomplishments include: creating an independent Office of Child Advocate, the SOUL Act- adding another permanency option for kids leaving care, establishing the Foster Care Bill of Rights, and modernizing the Child Death Review Board. #ksleg

"United Kingdom joins nations pulling back from gender-affirming care, Mayo Clinic raises alarms""Kelly’s veto statement ignores that the United Kingdom’s “National Health System”...has recently pulled back from providing such services to minors after a new report called the evidence for gender-affirming care for minors “remarkably weak.”"Moreover, Kelly is also ignoring a recent Mayo Clinic study which has found — contrary to the usual claims — that puberty blockers may well not be reversible after all. Puberty blockers have been shown to cause long-term fertility problems in boys, according to a preprint study from Mayo Clinic.”#kslegsentinelksmo.org/kansas-gov-laura-kelly-vetoes-bill-to-ban-gender-affirming-care-for-minors/
