Conservative first

Unchecked government expansion limits our freedom as individuals and hinders the growth of the businesses our state’s economy relies on to thrive. Kansans from all walks of life are impacted in very real ways and I am dedicated to standing up for people just like you. During my time in office, I have worked to limit bureaucratic intervention in our day-to-day lives and make government more efficient. I believe in the importance of defending life, strengthening the family, and protecting our most cherished rights. I will continue fighting for you in Topeka.

Campaigns take work. So does governing. Our state needs leadership that understands our communities and puts Kansas first. As Majority Leader, I worked to achieve many things for Kansans and voters showed their support for our efforts by sending another Republican supermajority back to the Kansas House. But the work goes on. As Speaker of the House, I need your help to share our current successes and future goals with our neighbors. Together, we can ensure that Kansas continues to be a great place to live, work, and raise a family!

"Kansas’s Democratic governor Laura Kelly has carefully crafted her political reputation as a self-proclaimed “middle of the road,” “moderate” leader. Now in her sixth year in office, with Republican supermajorities in both legislative chambers, she seems as determined as ever to see just how far she can push the boundaries of what those monikers truly mean."Poll results vary but consistently show that most Americans, across party lines, agree that minor children should be protected from the harm and irreversible consequences of medicalized gender-transition interventions. Common sense tells us children aren’t able to fully grasp the permanence of such decisions. It’s widely known that minors cannot meaningfully consent, either cognitively or legally, to these life-altering hormones and drastic surgeries, as well as — perhaps most important — to their long-term ramifications. Science shows that kids’ brains may not be fully developed until the age of about 25, which could be over ten years away for these vulnerable teens. With her reckless veto and acquiescence to the most radical in the transgender movement, Governor Kelly has not only abandoned the middle of the road. She has also abandoned Kansas children and families.www.nationalreview.com/2024/04/kansas-will-protect-children-with-no-help-from-a-hapless-governor/#ksleg

Governor Kelly Vetoes Bill That Would Secure Kansans’ Private Data from Foreign Adversaries Topeka, KS — Kansas House of Representatives Leadership Team responds to Governor Kelly’s veto of the bill that would secure Kansans’ private data from espionage activities using drone technology operated by United States foreign adversaries.“National security isn’t simply an issue of the federal government- states must take an active role in securing our geographic region. When warnings are presented regarding CCP espionage using drone technology, we’re compelled to act,” said Kansas House Speaker Dan Hawkins. “While the Governor’s veto ignores and minimizes the national security risks posed by our foreign adversaries, the Republican-led House will readily pick up her slack and override her reckless veto.”"This is a simple piece of legislation that will protect critical infrastructure, military installations, and the Kansas people by preventing completely avoidable theft by our foreign adversaries, namely China. Unfortunately, Chinese military companies manufacture many of the drones used by local governments, and the information they collect is easily accessible to our foreign adversaries, Kansas House Majority Leader Chris Croft said. “The FBI and DHS have documented the national security risks posed by allowing these drones to operate. I'm deeply disappointed that the Governor has blatantly refused to acknowledge the risk posed by our foreign adversaries and vetoed this common-sense legislation. I look forward to the Legislature overriding her misguided veto.""It is incredibly disappointing to learn that Governor Kelly has chosen to veto House Sub for SB 271, a crucial measure aimed at protecting our state's security from growing threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party,” House Speaker Pro Tempore Blake Carpenter said. “By ensuring we don’t use foreign adversary drone technology, this bill guarantees reliability and confidence in our security infrastructure. I am eager to work with my colleagues to override this veto and ensure our state's safety remains a top priority."

It’s Time to Face the Facts: Laura Kelly Isn’t Serious When She Says She Wants Bipartisan Tax ReliefTopeka, KS — After yet another Kelly/Toland Administration veto of sustainable tax relief that would benefit all Kansans, this time axing a plan with unanimous support in the House and a bipartisan majority of support in the Senate, Kansas House of Representatives leadership issued the following statements:“We all saw unanimous support for this tax relief bill in the House. We all saw the bipartisan majority support for this bill in the Senate. And we’ve all seen the revenue estimates that say this plan is sustainable. One by one we’ve overcome Governor Kelly’s objections to delivering your money back to you in the form of property, income, Social Security, and sales tax relief. And every time, the Governor moves the goalposts and vetoes the bill,” Kansas House Speaker Dan Hawkins said. “At this point, there are two more things that deep down we all know to be true- Kansans need and deserve tax relief and Governor Kelly isn’t serious when she says she wants to provide it. As your elected representatives, we’re going to work to override her veto and get your money back to you.”#ksleg
